Examples of Chiropractic Tables and Massage

There are several types of massage tables that are used within the chiropractic industry.  Each one of the chiropractic tables listed below involves some type of massage and is helpful to patients.  However, the type of table used for individual chiropractic patients is determinant upon their condition and specific needs or preferences.  There are good and bad aspects of each table listed below:

Spinalator Table: The Spinalator uses a chiropractic roller to go up and down the patient’s body as the patient lies on the chiropractic table.  According to Access Equipment Corp, “the rollers lift and separate each segment of the spine. The rollers also elevate to increase the level of pressure applied to the back. The rollers are then moved up and down the spine by a travel system” (www.spinalator.com) CON: Although chiropractic spinalator tables are beneficial for some patients, those in severe pain may not be able to handle the Spinalator tables when the massage roller travels up and down the patient’s body.

Chiropractic massage table: Chiropractic massage tables are stationary tables in which chiropractic patients lay on to receive a massage.  A chiropractic massage table is used by a massage therapist who provides a hands-on massage for the patient.  CON:  Those who do not like hands-on massage prefer not to use the chiropractic massage table. Instead, patients may prefer a chiropractic water massage table so they do not have to be touched by another person or get undressed.

Chiropractic Motorized massage tables: Chiropractic Motorized massage tables may sometimes be referred to as rolling tables and provide the user with a massage using solid, rolling bars or balls that travel up and down part or the whole of the body.  CON: Although chiropractic motorized massage tables are also beneficial for some patients, those in severe pain feel that chiropractic motorized massage tables are too harsh when it travels up and down the body.  Those who do not like chiropractic motorized massage tables may prefer chiropractic water massage tables as they tend to be less invasive and more comfortable for the patient, especially those with acute conditions.

Chiropractic water massage table: Chiropractic water massage tables are therapeutic modalities that combine water, heat and massage to provide a relaxing therapy for chiropractic patients.  Aquamed-HydroMassage® Dry Hydrotherapy is an example of a chiropractic water massage table and is a great adjunct to chiropractic therapy. CON: Most patients prefer chiropractic water massage tables, however those who do not usually prefer hands on massage.
