What is Dry Hydrotherapy?
Dry hydrotherapy (dry water massage) is a form of therapy that combines the healing powers of water, heat and massage in a single system. The purpose of Dry Hydrotherapy is to provide the therapies of whirlpool, heat, and massage in a single system without the inconvenience of getting wet. Whirlpool treatment (Wet Hydrotherapy) applies pressurized streams of water to target areas of pain. The benefits are well documented, however the drawbacks to traditional whirlpool treatments include: 1) The possibility of spreading disease, 2) the risk of slip-and-fall injuries, 3) and significant maintenance required. One of the most important points to consider about whirlpool treatment is that the process of getting wet provides no medical benefit to the patient for muscular conditions.Dry Hydrotherapy Massage Systems
Dry water massage systems are designed to replicate and exceed the benefits offered by whirlpool without any of the key drawbacks or inconveniences. For this reason, dry hydrotherapy massage systems have become both an adjunct and primary form of treatment for medical professionals.
In comparing the Dry Hydrotherapy water jet massage models on the market, only the AquaMED dry hydrotherapy massage systems allow manipulation of all dry water massage treatment variables and offer the ability to customize dry hydrotherapy treatments based on patient needs. The Aquamed® Dry Water Massage System Difference There are several dry water massage systems on the market. However, Aquamed provides the highest form of customization (in the form of speed, pressure, range and temperature). Here are some of the defining characteristics that make Aquamed dry hydrotherapy systems the best water massage systems on the market:
Maximum Pressure is the most noticeable and important part of the massage. This ultimately determines the degree of deep tissue massage that may be provided, and without a high level of pressure, patients experience lack a true form of dry hydrotherapy treatment. The AquaMED Dry Hydrotherapy system provides a level of pressure far superior than any other dry water massage system available. This is especially beneficial for patients who, because of higher muscle mass, cannot get proper treatment from dry hydrotherapy systems with inadequate pressure.
The Range of Pressure is also an important issue when considering dry hydrotherapy treatment options. Patients in severe pain may not be able to withstand a high level of pressure. Accurate treatment prescription depends largely on the ability to customize the massage with a sufficient range of pressure settings. AquaMED dry water massage not only gives the strongest form of massage, it is one of the only, with the exception of AquaPT, that offers a wide range of pressure settings.
Temperature is a factor that is well addressed by each of the dry hydrotherapy systems available. Each provides the ability to adjust the temperature of the massage, however as discussed later, the ability to localize the heat treatment is only offered with the AquaMED systems.
